Our New Home at Beacon Rock

As most of you know, we moved into our new offices at Beacon Rock in Umhlanga on 7 January 2013. The move to Umhlanga was inspired by a number of factors including the end of our lease at our Mount Edgecombe offices. At that time, on the back of a depressed property market, we were approached by Construction ID with a deal we couldn’t refuse – spacious offices on the third floor of a brand new building with a sea view – not to mention the reduced cost overall. A bargain! As a result of our trademark FMI teamwork and determination, our staff were able to move into the new premises over a weekend and start work on the Monday morning. As one of the first tenants in the building, we face a few construction challenges but we should be able to fully enjoy our space by mid-2013. While the offices are state-of-the-art, our new home is about more than good looks. Going forward we are focused on building the FMI Culture, facilitating better communication across our channels and with our clients (including financial advisers), and inspiring greater productivity. We are pleased to report that we have already seen significant changes in behaviour as a result of the open plan environment, namely far greater face-to-face interaction between departments, staff members, and visitors.
